WMND is a tool that allows the user to monitor their network interfaces from their dock, providing real-time information about network traffic and connection status.
Installation of WMND is a breeze. The `configure' shell script takes care of system-dependent variables during the compilation process. It creates a `Makefile' in each directory of the package and produces a `config.status' shell script and a compiler output file called `config.log'. You can also use an optional file to cache results and speed up the reconfiguration process.
If you encounter any issues during the installation, you can mail diffs or instructions to the address given in the `README' to consider them for inclusion in future releases. If you want to change the configuration or regenerate `configure', simply edit `configure.ac' or `configure.in' and use `autoconf' to create a new `configure' program with the right features.
Compiling the package is simple too. First, navigate to the directory containing the source code and run `./configure' to configure it for your system. It takes a while, but it prints helpful messages. Next, type `make' to compile the package and optionally `make check' to run self-tests. Finally, use `make install' to install the programs and data files, and if needed, type `make clean' or `make distclean' to remove object files and `configure' files.
WMND is an excellent tool for network monitoring and comes with new updates often. This includes fixes for crashes on 64-bit OSes and incorrect displays under Linux. OpenSolaris support is now available, allowing for more flexibility when monitoring your network, and trend support is significantly improved.
