X3: Reunion, the highly praised space simulator by Egosoft, can now be played on Linux thanks to the efforts of Linux Game Publishing.
You can choose your own path, whether you want to follow the evolving storyline or forge your path to greatness. However, beware, there's something moving in the remote areas of the galaxy. The graphics of X2 are beyond exceptional, unheard of before in the space genre. The game is also impressively open-ended, allowing you to fly across the universe for almost two days of playing time.
Over 60 classes of spacecraft are available for you to pilot, ranging from Argon Discoverer to the gigantic Teladi Albatross that carries a squadron of fighters at your command. The complex yet intuitive interface makes it easy to control your empire, whether it's a trading fleet of merchant vessels or a fighter wing of deadly Split Raptors.
To run the game, your system must meet certain requirements. These include an operating system of 2.2.x or better Linux kernel, processor of 1.2 GHz x86, memory of 256 MB, disc space of 1.4 GB, 1 x DVD Rom, hardware-accelerated 3D graphics card with 64 MB video memory, and an OSS or ALSA compatible sound card. If you meet these requirements, X2: The Threat will undoubtedly quench your thirst for an exceptional space simulator game.
