Xconq is a strategy game focused on building an empire.
The latest Xconq release is primarily focused on game design, with a number of new features added for that purpose. As always, there are some bug fixes included in this release. However, it must be emphasized that this is a snapshot release, so some issues may still be present.
Among the new features in this release are the ability to impose more materials consumption restrictions for construction and repair, the use of operational roles to replace the various support plans, and the ability for creation, building, repair, and tooling up actions to be performed without the use of ACP. The code has been revised to remove much old cruft, and some of the action-handling code has been rewritten.
Additionally, the release offers support for treating the unit task agenda as a FIFO and for automatic placement of units in an unit once completed. Some games that were mostly broken have been moved to a "bit rot" archive, and further notes include operational roles not being saved or restored with games yet, the iplayer being broken and a side-configurable replacement called the mplayer, and demand-based construction of mobile transports not yet occurring.
All in all, Xconq is a well-rounded strategy game system that offers a wealth of options for the game designer, with the latest release offering even more innovative features to explore.
