XIcons is an uncomplicated desktop application that allows users to view icons on their screen.
The code for XIcons was based on a project called idesk found on freshmeat. Initially started due to the bugs spotted in idesk, XIcons was considered a stable alternative. Although the software is no longer maintained, it is still available in case users show any interest.
For the application to function, users must install imlib image libraries and have a working C++ compiler with STL support. Installation requires only three steps, configure, make, and make install. The software is then automatically installed in /usr/local/bin.
Overall, XIcons is a useful desktop icon application that can help improve your desktop organization while being intuitive and easy to use.
