XMMS-Shell is a user-friendly command line interface that enables easy control of XMMS software.
Some outstanding features of XMMS-Shell include volume control, equalizer control, control over the display of the main, equalizer, and playlist windows, ability to pop up the preferences or file load dialogs, and some miscellaneous but potentially useful commands such as FADE, FAKEPAUSE, and RESETDEVICE.
The 0.99 series of XMMS-Shell is a complete rewrite of the 0.2 series but all of the 0.2's functionality should still be available. The 0.99 series is considered beta, but once the code is deemed stable, it will graduate to version 1.0.
This code works with any version of XMMS after 1.0, though it has barely been tested with XMMS 1.2.6. Finally, the requirement for using XMMS-Shell is XMMS. With these features, XMMS-Shell is a great software tool for controlling the XMMS player.
