A software tool that creates presentations in a slideshow format.
Installation is straightforward; first, ensure all requirements are installed, and then execute the basic installation commands for the Unix world: "./configure", "make", "su -", and "make install".
Within XSW, presentations are created by hand, using the XSW language outlined in the manual. For example, to write a slide with the text "Hello World!" centered at position 50x30, you would enter:
slide:
- "Hello" x:50 y:30 align:center
+ "World!"
The first line denotes that a slide is being created, while the second line adds the text "Hello" centered at 50x30. The third line repeats the previous command with the addition of the text "World!" using the same parameters. Once this script is saved as 'test.xsw', users can easily run it using the command 'xsw test.xsw'.
XSW has a learning curve, but once mastered, users can create presentations that are visually superior (and faster) than Microsoft PowerPoint. Pressing 'F' enters fullscreen mode while any presentation is running.
Images can be added by specifying the file name and location, and can be easily positioned within the slide. Additionally, users can utilize templates (or "master slides") for consistency throughout the presentation. Grids are available to assist with positioning, and can be shown through the CTRL+D command.
Overall, XSW provides a robust and practical solution for creating beautiful presentations quickly and efficiently.
