Zfm software is a file manager program created by Christophe Gouiran and previously included in the ZDesktop initiative.
One of the most significant features of Zfm is its plugin handling. With this functionality, users have endless possibilities in terms of customizing their file management experience. Why should you always view files in a list-based representation? Or, why should you use different programs to connect to an FTP site or to create a Zip archive when you can use Zfm's plugins? The software offers scanning plugins that retrieve a list of files from any source, display plugins that present the content of a list in a preferred way, and Misc plugins that offer functionalities like file copy, directory creation, file list printing, backup creation, and getting of filesystem information.
As for scanning plugins, Zfm's current version only displays files available on a local disk. However, the developer is working on an FTP plugin that will make it possible to connect to a site, and a GZIP plugin that will allow users to display the content of a gzip archive. Display plugins, on the other hand, have ListBox and Yean3D plugins that display files similarly to Windows Explorer or with a 3-Dimensional effect, respectively. However, users should take note that the left mouse button is used to click on a file or directory, while the right mouse button changes the point of view. There is also a clock plugin based on a QT library example, but it is presently disabled.
In summary, Zfm is an innovative file manager software that offers a unique user experience. Its plugin handling feature allows endless possibilities to customize one's file management system. The software's current version offers scanning plugins, display plugins, and misc plugins, but we hope to see more Misc plugins added in the future. Overall, Zfm is a great solution for anyone who needs a customizable and easy-to-use file manager.
