Addns.pl is a self-sufficient software client for updating DynDNS.org (and other providers).
One of the standout features of Addns.pl is its extensive support for multiple IP detection methods, including the ability to use external webcheck/router pages. This makes it an ideal choice for anyone who wants to have complete control over their DynDNS accounts and ensure that they are always kept up to date with the latest dynamic IP addresses.
Addns.pl has been extensively tested on a wide range of operating systems including FreeBSD 3.x, 4.x and 5.x, Mac OS X, OpenBSD 2.7/2.8/3.2/3.3, Slackware Linux 7.0 (and earlier), Redhat Linux 6.2-9.0, Debian 3.0r1, Solaris 7-9, SuSE 7.0 (and earlier), and most others (Please e-mail me ones that work successfully). This wide range of compatibility ensures that it is easy to use and install on virtually any system.
To use Addns.pl, you will need to ensure that you have a Unix/Linux system with a compatible ifconfig, Perl 5.0 or later, and a Dyndns.org account. Additionally, you may need to have a few other Dynamic DNS services (please e-mail me about this).
Some key features of "Addnspl" include multiple configurations and hosts in a single setup, automatic IP detection using UNIX network interfaces, web IP detection and configurable router IP detection, optional persistent automatic updating mode (i.e. in place of cron), abuse prevention (via log), and logging.
Recently, version 1.2 of Addnspl was released, which fixed problems with multiple hosts in the same config section, cleaned up the help output and the documentation, allowed for the specification of alternate config file, and of log and database files within the config file. Overall, Addns.pl is an excellent product that comes highly recommended for anyone who wants to manage their DynDNS accounts with ease.
