This software allows users to showcase their POD (print on demand) designs in a browser, enabling them to easily share and view their creations. The platform provides a simple yet effective way to showcase designs without the need for physical samples.
In direct mode, Apache takes care of the URI to filename translation. This means that when the request hits Apache2::PodBrowser's handler, the $r->filename points to a regular file. Use direct mode if your POD files are installed in one directory tree that is accessible through the WEB server. You may need an additional directory index handler.
Perldoc mode, on the other hand, requires you to specify a location where the handler resides. If you append a module name to the location URL, you can access its documentation. Usually, perldoc mode is preferred as it allows you to access PODs at their natural locations. However, it may be slightly slower.
In perldoc mode, there are two indexes available. One is an index of all installed modules and scripts that come with POD, while the other is an index of built-in functions and variables. The handler location itself shows the module index. If you enter a single question mark as a CGI keyword, the function and variable index is displayed.
Don't worry about having to remember all these URLs, as the pages are properly linked together. Overall, Apache2::PodBrowser is a handy tool for viewing POD files.
