The Authenticated User Community project is an intranet system designed for K-12 environments that uses CGI technology to provide secure user access.
The AUC project runs from a C-based monolithic CGI script and database storage is done through MySQL. It also supports MIME parts/attachments, IMAP, mbox and multiple mail folders via its web-based email client.
Taking into account the necessary requirements for its installation, users will need: MySQL 3.22.x or greater, MySQL client libraries, PAM, Perl 5 or greater, DBI module, Msql-Mysql module, Data::ShowTable mod., XML::Parser mod. and XML::XPath mod.
The latest release of AUC project includes various new features and bug fixes. The email client now properly displays mail encoded in non-ASCII charsets and all text is displayed in UTF-8 instead of the current language's codeset. There is also a built-in client for inline word viewing that uses libwv (fixing bug 436301).
Furthermore, usernames are now forced to be all-lowercase (fixing bug 447057) and a global option has been added to force AUC to always use a given language. Bugs 436277, 422923, 439617, 423822, 423824, and 427938 have also been fixed. Overall, the AUC project is a great choice for educational organizations and other settings in need of a simple, effective intranet system.
