This software copies single files to a specific directory designated as a backup location. It facilitates easy file backup and data management.
For instance, if you want to backup a file named MyContacts.txt to a directory named MyBackupDir, you can easily achieve this with the following command:
my $ok = File::SimpleBackup::backup_file("MyContacts.txt", "MyBackupDir");
Once executed, the Backup::SingleFile module will create a copy of MyContacts.txt and name it MyBackupDir/MyContacts_2009-07-19.txt (adding the current date). If the same file is copied again on the same day, the module will create a second copy named MyBackupDir/MyContacts_2009-07-19_000.txt (adding an incremented counter).
With Backup::SingleFile, you can rest easy knowing that your files are backed up and easily accessible in case of data loss or corruption.
