CDS Invenio is software that facilitates the creation of digital library servers through a collection of tools and applications.
Developed, maintained, and employed by the CERN Document Server (CDS), CDS Invenio organizes over 500 datasets, containing more than 800,000 bibliographic transactions that cover preprints, articles, books, journals, photographs, and much more. Over a dozen scientific institutions worldwide use CDS Invenio.
CDS Invenio implements features such as navigable collection trees, customizable portal boxes for each collection, documents sorted in collections, regular and virtual collection trees, and powerful search engines. These bespoke indexes solve Google-like search rates for repositories of up to 1,500,000 records. Users can customize simple and advanced search interfaces with combined metadata, full-text, and citation search.
CDS Invenio supports standard metadata arrangements (MARC), article, book, thesis, photo, video, museum object, and more options. Users have personalization options, such as user-defined document baskets, within-group basket sharing, user-defined automated email notification alerts, and Amazon-like user comments for repository and shared baskets.
CDS Invenio requirement list comprises Apache, mod_python, MySQL, MySQLdb, Python, CMU Common Lisp, GNU CLISP, Psyco, PyStemmer, RXP, Steel Bank Common Lisp, antiword, catdoc, gnuplot, wv, and Xpdf. The latest version comes with numerous bug fixes in session handling and other modules.
