The Eggdrop Jabber Bot connects your Eggdrop IRCbot with the Jabber instant messaging network and ICQ.
The current version of the software only has one functionality, an invite feature. Suppose you have some latest gadget news you want to share with your friends. However, they are not logged in to the IRC server. Writing messages to everyone seems like a daunting task. Instead, you leverage the bot's capabilities by using "!jabot:invite Come and here about THE new gadget" command, and it sends an invitation with your message to all the users who have set their IM details. They can even reply with one message that will be posted on the channel.
The Eggdrop Jabber Bot code runs on older versions of TCL JabberLib and TclXML, which are included with the package. The author has added some extra functionalities to these versions based on personal needs, so porting it to newer versions might take some effort. However, if anyone is interested, the author welcomes it.
Overall, the Eggdrop Jabber Bot offers a straightforward solution to bridge IRC to the Jabber instant messaging network, making it a useful tool for users who require cross-platform communication.
