The Free Simulated Radar Client is a project that provides a framework for virtual air traffic control network's radar clients.
The framework analyzes the data provided by servers of these networks and provides interfaces for radar clients or other applications to access the data quickly and easily. All you need is Java Runtime Environment 1.3 or later to run this software on your device.
There are two methods to run this software. The first method involves running "scope.sh LOG_FILE" for the radar client demo and "strips.sh LOG_FILE" for the flight strip display. LOG_FILE is the file name of a log file in the "log" directory, such as "log/vatsim_01.log".
The second method involves running a proxy program such as PCProxy or c_shuttle, then connecting to "127.0.0.1". You can then run a radar client, such as ASRC, with the usual settings and follow up by running "scope_online.sh" for even more convenience.
In the latest release of Free Simulated Radar Client project, the map is now displayed, with everything but the airways. Also, the software comes with added data/test.sct, which features lots of VORs, NDBs, and other useful resources.
Overall, Free Simulated Radar Client project is an excellent software application for those who want to simulate virtual air traffic control networks. It is a reliable and efficient framework with fantastic features that will make any air traffic control simulation a breeze.
