Effortlessly transform GIF into PNG with our software.
One of the great features of gif2png is that it can even recover data from corrupted GIF files. Additionally, the utility includes a Python script, web2png, which has the ability to convert entire web hierarchies that include images and HTML or PHP pages.
The program has been in existence since 1996, and has proved its functionality and stability over the years. It can be built on any Unix platform, or alternatively on MS-DOS or Windows using djgpp, or using Borland C.
Although I'm unsure when the djgpp or Borland builds were last tested, I can attest to the Unix version's unshakeable stability. It has never let me down, regardless of the files I've thrown at it.
One word of caution though. Some older ImageMagick 4.2.x versions have a bug that can make grayscale PNGs appear incorrectly. This can sometimes lead users to think that gif2png is defective. This, however, is not the case - it's only the ImageMagick issue. Fortunately, this bug has been addressed in newer ImageMagick versions. As of version 5.2.2, there should be no further issues.
In summary, gif2png is an efficient and reliable program that delivers exactly what it promises. Whether you're looking to convert older GIF images to the more recent PNG format or recover data from corrupted files, gif2png will not disappoint.
