The L.A.U.R.A project offers a high-performing and secure email proxy solution.
Greenmarking works by marking a triplet of (sender_ip, sender, recipient) green the first time it is seen. The message will be sent unmarked, along with the meaning of "never seen it before." When the triplet is seen again, the message will also be marked green, indicating that the user knows the sender already.
Greenmarking acts after greylisting and is highly effective against evil mail servers. The feature is implemented in the project, and users can add an inbox filter to their mail clients to move messages with a "neverseen" header to the suspicious folder.
Some key features of L.A.U.R.A include ESMTP capability for interoperating with Postfix, lightening-fast B+ infrastructure for internal database, no false positives, no lost or missed emails, and a BSD license. The software is written in plain old C and is designed to be as fast as possible. It is highly secure, with multiple audits, formal verifications, and programming care.
The software has no package dependencies and is hassle-free for admins and users. It is polite with other internet neighbours and allows secure inter-server cooperation for MX backups without any hassle or complexity. Overall, L.A.U.R.A is an excellent software that every email user should consider trying out.
