Mint's FTP tool is a software utility for transferring files to and from a server using the File Transfer Protocol. It enables users to upload and download files securely while maintaining access permissions and ensuring data integrity. Linux Mint's FTP upload tool is user-friendly and reliable.
While some users appreciated the ease of sharing files with mintUpload, they found it lacking in uploading them. Thus, there have been many requests to add FTP support to the tool. Initially designed for novice users who wanted to share large files without knowing much about FTP or free web space, mintUpload has become popular among experienced users as well. This gave rise to the addition of FTP support and the definition of another type of service in MintUpload.
To install mintUpload, you require the Romeo repositories. Perform an "apt update" and "apt install mintupload" in a terminal. If Romeo is not set up, you can download the packages from the download page. MintUpload lets you define "upload services" by adding files in /etc/linuxmint/mintUpload/services/. You can define your FTP service by adding type=FTP, name, host, user, pass, and path in the file.
MintUpload 2 will be a featured improvement in Linux Mint 6 Felicia. The tool is being actively translated, and users who speak languages other than English are encouraged to participate in translating mintUpload 2 by contributing to this forum thread.
