Oxine is a graphical user interface for the xine multimedia player software, designed solely for OSD environments.
Here are some of Oxine's key features: support for X11, Framebuffer, and DxR3 output, as well as mouse, keyboard, and LIRC input. It can also autoplay DVDs, VCDs, SVCDs, CDROMs, and audio CDs, and browse and select their own media marks while browsing through file systems, M3U playlists, and audio CD tracks. Oxine supports goom, playlists, and automatic stream title blending as well.
Getting started with Oxine is straightforward. Ensure that you have the most recent version of Xine-lib installed, with at least beta 9. Next, download the Oxine source tarball and unpack it, navigate to the created directory, and type "./configure --prefix=/some/path, make, make install." If you checked Oxine out of CVS, ensure that you have recent versions of automake and autoconf installed (tested with automake1.7.2 and autoconf 2.57). Then type "./autogen.sh --prefix=/some/path, make, make install."
To create autoplay functionality, ensure that a user mountable CDROM or DVD drive is being used by the user who is running Oxine, with device and mount point set up correctly. The default values are device: /dev/dvd, mount point: /dvd, but they can be changed by running Oxine once and clicking on shutdown, which will create its default config file in your home. Edit this file with your preferred text editor while Oxine isn't running.
If you plan on using LIRC, ensure that irxevent daemon isn't running, as that will result in Oxine receiving any LIRC event twice. A default LIRCRC is installed in $PREFIX/share/oxine. customize it, either in place or by copying it to ~/.oxine, where it won't be overwritten if Oxine is reinstalled. If you're updating Oxine, consult the ChangeLog as the LIRC file's config options may change.
Start Oxine with the command "oxine [options] [mrls...]" with options being things like printing the command line help (-h), printing Oxine's version (-v), starting in fullscreen mode (-f), letting Xine use the specified video/audio driver (e.g., auto, XV, XSHM, DXR3, etc.).
In this release, bugs #1800448 and #1800446 have been fixed.
