PinePgp adds filters to Pine for sending and receiving signed and encrypted emails.
The software is easy to install - after you have downloaded and unpacked the source tarball, navigate to the source directory and run the following commands: './configure', 'make', and 'make install'. Before building, you have the option to enable support for a specific encryption utility and specify its path using '--with-[=]'. For example, to enable GnuPG support and generic PGP 2.6.x support with /usr/bin/pgp, use the command: './configure --with-gpg --with-pgp=/usr/bin/pgp'. Conversely, to disable support for a specific encryption utility, use '--without-'. For example, to disable GnuPG support, use: './configure --without-pgp'.
If you have mktemp installed but do not want PinePgp to use it, use the '--without-mktemp' configure parameter. Additionally, you can disable the partial fix for Naive Sign & Encrypt by using '--without-nsefix'.
Users on your system can run either 'pinegpg-install', 'pinepgp5x-install', 'pinepgp65x-install', or 'pinepgp26x-install' to add filters to their own pine configuration file (~/.pinerc). To enable the "encrypt to yourself" feature, specify your email address as the argument when running the install script. For example, to install GnuPG filters and replace [email protected] with your email address, use the command: 'pinegpg-install [email protected]'.
In the latest release, version 0.17.2, PinePgp has undergone enough testing to be deemed stable, and minor tweaks have been made to the README file. For more information on './configure' arguments, run: './configure --help'.
