Mason is a game system currently under development by WorldForge.
The expansion of the system covers various features, such as item creation using a recipe system, construction of houses and large structures, creating complex machines, simulating organic reactions, editing text and information objects, and running an economy that changes with the world. To demonstrate these techniques, a competitive and cooperative game centered around settling the uninhabited lands in the north-western corner of Moraf in our Dural world will be created. Players can play either human settlers or orcs.
The Game section contains elements such as the background story, game objectives, planned features for version 1.0, installation guide, player guide, and administrator guide. The Technology section deals with the design of the systems that will implement all the central features of Mason. The Content section deals with all the general data needed for the Mason Game, such as item and creature descriptions and stats, maps, and media for items and terrain.
In the new release of Mason, it is now supported in two major 3D clients, Ember and Sear. Also, an advanced terrain system has been implemented, including procedural texturing, paths, modified areas, and swimming in water. Building materials and resources can be gathered from the world using tools, and work has started on a new combat system.
Overall, WorldForge::Mason is a promising game system that allows players to create and customize a persistent in-game world. The expansion of the system covers various features that add more depth to the game, and the advanced terrain system and gathering of resources make the game more immersive. If you are interested in game development or world design, WorldForge::Mason is definitely worth checking out.
