SIGHT is a bioinformatics tool that generates user-defined web robots with various algorithm options, allowing for customizable automated workflows. It supports creation of robots based on Stalker algorithm and HTML structure.
Sight is a java-based package that we've created and tested. It comes with a code generator set and library that can assist you in creating new web robots that simulate filling web forms and analyzing received responses. With Sight, you can build an entire application without having to do much programming, just by realizing the requested data flow diagram. Furthermore, the web robots that are generated can also work as parts of your user-written program.
Our library provides date-sensitive databases of previously received responses and strategies for connecting to remote servers. Integrating locally installed executables isn't much different from integrating web services either, and Sight can also interface with the Weka classifiers system.
With the most recent release of Sight (Sight 2.1.0), we've made significant improvements to the system of code generators. These generators can now produce complete and working java classes that can be integrated into your own applications without any issues. It can even create complete applications for integrated analysis, realizing tree-like data flow.
We've tested Sight on platforms like Linux (Mandrake 9.0 and Phat 4.0) and Windows (2000 Pro and NT 4.0 sp5), so it's pretty versatile. Overall, we highly recommend Sight for those who want to make the most out of bioinformatical tools on remote servers.
